Ian Toll
Christian Toll
Ian is one of the original founders of the business and is a mechanical engineer with over 30 years experience in the design, manufacture and installation of large turnkey process solutions for companies worldwide. Ian also has extensive knowledge of the commercial applications and potential for using autoclave technology within the waste industry.
Ian previously worked as managing director at Jet Seats, a subsidiary of an AIM listed group, designing and manufacturing aircraft seats and interiors. In 1979, Ian formed his own company, becoming managing director of Futair Limited and its subsidiary Aeroform. The group specialised in aircraft seating and interiors and began developing expertise in the processing of advanced composite materials as well as in the development and manufacture of autoclaves (the processing equipment in which these components are manufactured). Ian sold the companies to the $2.3bn Kidde Corporation in 1985 where he continued to run the company for a further 3 years. Christian is AeroThermal’s CEO, responsible for running the Company on an operational basis. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
Prior to joining AeroThermal, Christian was Vice President of Operations at Thermal Equipment USA, a subsidiary of Aeroform. This role led him to oversee the simultaneous construction of two of the largest autoclaves in the world as part of the Boeing 787 programme in both America and Japan. Nigel is the Technical Director and Principal Engineer within the Company. He is a highly experienced and well qualified consultant thermodynamicist and mechanical engineer with considerable experience in process engineering for both the oil and power industries.

Dr. Zengjian Wang (BSc Hons) PhD – Senior Research Manager
Jian is the Company’s Senior Research Manager and has previously worked on anaerobic digestion plants in both commercial units and academic institutions. As well as working in the UK, Jian spent over ten years putting together anaerobic digesters for the Chinese government.
Since April 1997, Jian has worked with the University of Southampton’s School of Civil Engineering & the Environment developing a particular specialism in the development and analysis of digestate to achieve best biogas yield. More specifically he has been involved in two research projects with the university:
1) Evaluating the effect of autoclaving on the rate of anaerobic bio-
2) The effect of waste particle sizes on anaerobic biodegradation of organic fraction of MSW.
Tony Kimber BSc (Hons) CEng MICE MCIWEM – AD Technology Technical Director
Tony leads the AD technology delivery team, he is a chartered Civil Engineer with over 30 years experience in the design and construction of sewage treatment systems. After graduating he completed a four year training period with consultants Pick Everard where he gained his chartered engineer status. Subsequently ten years as a senior/principal engineer with the newly formed Wessex Water Authority gave him wide experience in all forms of sewage treatment systems and particularly Anaerobic Digestion. His interest in anaerobic technology was furthered by founding a company (ECL) to specialise in the design & build of AD plants. ECL successfully built several green field AD plants for most of the UK Water Companies before selling to MJ Gleeson Group Plc, where for the next 15 years, the focus was on larger contracts. In 2006 Tony and his ECL business was sold to Black & Veatch where he became technical director of the bio-
